Here’s a bold declaration: technology helps us lead better, healthier lives. It makes us more productive at work. It helps us be entertained at home. It connects us to family and friends. It even helps us keep track of our health. Technology has paved the way for some very exciting innovations in the bath and shower space, too. ThermaSol has embraced every single one of them. Constant steam. Lights. Audio. Video and music apps. Our ThermaSol Total Wellness Package featuring a Digital Showering System is the latest convergence of all of this technology into one central control panel for your shower. That’s why we wanted to celebrate Techies Day on October 3. It’s an opportunity to celebrate technology’s contributions to the health and wellness industry, and to our company. We quite literally wouldn’t be the company we are today without technology.

In honor of Techies Day, we wanted to highlight some apps that will help jumpstart your mornings — from the minute you roll out of bed to the minute you step into the shower, to the minute you put your car in drive for your work commute. Whether your morning ritual includes meditation, an exercise routine or listening to the daily news, we’ve got you covered with these six cool apps.

Rise and Shine

1. Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock

The Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock closely analyzes your sleep and wakes you up during the lightest sleep phase, which occurs during a 30-minute window that ends at your set alarm time. (This window can be adjusted to anywhere between 10–90 minutes, but the app recommends 30 minutes.) This ensures that you wake up in a more natural way, feeling both well-rested and ready to start the day.

2. Morning Ritual

Sometimes you need a little dose of regimen to get going in the a.m. The Morning Ritual app makes it easy for users to create daily activities and set a designated time for each of them. If you want to meditate for five minutes or read for 10 minutes, you can set these activities in the app with corresponding time limits. Hit the “start” button to begin your first task. The app will let you know when it’s time to move on to your next task, but you can also prompt it to skip ahead. Once you’ve completed your routine, the app pulls together a graph to show you how you allocated your time. You can track your progress by comparing this graph to ones from the last week or month.

3. Spotify

Ok, Spotify is not exactly new — but it’s ThermaSol-supported and there are some really cool “morning friendly” features worth mentioning. For example, last year, Spotify teamed up with music psychologist David M. Greenberg to curate the perfect, science-backed morning playlist to help people rise a little easier. The playlist includes songs like Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” Sam Smith’s “Money On My Mind,” and Imagine Dragon’s “On Top of the World.” There’s also a number of other a.m-specific playlists based on your musical preferences, so check it out. If you want to get your blood pumping in the morning, you can always create custom workout playlists based on your intensity level.

4. MyFitnessPal

Who isn’t trying to lose weight or eat healthier these days? MyFitnessPal helps you track everything from exercise to diet so you can achieve your fitness goals. It helps you determine your optimal caloric intake and nutrients and uses gamification elements to motivate you.

This two-in-one-experience allows you to kill two birds with one stone — well, actually three birds if you count the shower!

4. CNN – Live TV Feed

If you’re the type of person who wants to know what’s happening in the world first thing in the morning, then the ThermaSol-supported CNN app allows you get all of the global news gathering in one place. You can watch live CNN for breaking news and stay informed via custom alert settings without getting overwhelmed.

5. Castbox

There’s nothing like a good, informative podcast to make you feel productive in the morning while you’re behind the wheel. If you need an app that corrals all of your pod-faves (and suggests new ones for you), look no further than Castbox. It offers more than 1 million podcast channels spanning news, entertainment, and more. Your preferred podcasts sync to the cloud as well, so you can start on one device and end on another.

6. Waze

Oh, let us count the Waze. This uber-popular commuting app is a big city necessity for avoiding traffic jams. The app collects real-time traffic information as thousands of people drive around in their cars. This data is then taken and crunched to give you live updates on traffic when you drive to your work. Just be mindful of those Waze-directed left-hand turns..they can be tricky in rush hour!
